The LAAS could use donations from you to fund various aspects of the society that cannot be efficiently funded by the membership dues. Help make improvements to the LAAS so that we can bring astronomy and its enjoyment to all. The LAAS is a 501(c)(3) organization to which any donation is tax deductible.

If you wish your donation to fund a particular project or function of the LAAS, you may specify this with your donation. The LAAS Board has come up with the following list of fund categories. This is not an exhaustive list, and if you have a particular project that you wish to address with your donation, please specify this with the donation and we will do our best to accommodate your wish.

Description

General Fund
This fund is disbursed at the discretion of the LAAS Board. In addition to funding the categories below, it can be used to buy door prizes for meetings or events, to buy or improve loaner telescopes, etc.

Outreach Fund
This fund is used to fund various aspects of the outreach program. This is primarily equipment for astronomy. This includes outreach to schools and to the general public.

Lockwood Fund
This fund is used for maintenance and improvements at the LAAS Lockwood Valley site. Needed repairs and upgrades include the Trailer Replacement Fund (the trailer is falling apart), Restroom Replacement Fund (also falling apart), adding a water storage tank to the site, pouring a new center pad for the 31" telescope (beginning to crumble) as well as various other small projects.

Garvey Ranch Fund
This fund, also known as the Monterey Park Observatory Fund, is used for making improvements to the observatory as well as to the mirror-making and shop facilities located at Garvey Ranch. It is also used to purchase eyepieces for the observatory and books for the LAAS library.

Equipment Fund This fund is used to purchase or replace equipment for astronomical viewing. It has a lot of overlap with the other funds.
