LAAS makes use of three physical facilities. The Griffith Observatory allows us to use their facility for holding the monthly general meetings, as well as the monthly public star parties. The Garvey Ranch facility, owned by the city of Monterey Park, houses the telescope making workshop, the LAAS library, and an 8" refractor which is available for public viewing on Wednesday nights. This is also the location at which the LAAS board meetings take place. Finally, LAAS owns property in Lockwood Valley for use as a dark sky observing site.
LAAS publishes a bulletin each month which contains articles of interest to our membership, as well as information about upcoming events.
LAAS uses two Yahoo groups. One is intended for the officers and board members to communicate to the membership. The other is available to the membership at large for organizing outreach star parties, asking general questions, etc.
